One may also wonder how a religiously fundamentalist country like Pakistan can give birth to such strong female voice. Based in Islamabad, Maria Fatima Unera wrote this song- 'Strong' after her mother had passed away battling cancer.
I happened to be listening to this song - almost in a loop - for the last couple of weeks. There is a part where she screamed her pain out- 'Oh Lord, please can you hear me? Can you hear me now?! Please help my mama, be strong.' Every time I come to this part, I find it difficult to hold back tears.
